Folks, there's good reason why our favorite automaker here at Lithia Toyota of Springfield has been so invested in their auto plants as of late. After all, you need to spend money to make money in an industry like ours, and when you're spending in the millions, the milestones are bound to follow.
Speaking of which, our friends down in San Antonio, TX just set a new record that would make any automaker proud.
In case you're unfamiliar with the history of Texas auto plants, Toyota opened up their San Antonio facility all the way back in 2006. Originally built to produce the Toyota Tundra, the plant eventually started moving Toyota Tacoma models down the line in 2010. Given the undying love that Texans have for their pickups, we can't say we were all that surprised when we heard they'd produced their one-millionth truck this past week.
Needless to say, all that hard work makes for a whole lot of pride down in the Lone Star State.
"We are grateful for our loyal customers across North America who tell us they love driving Texas-built Tacomas and Tundras," says Chris Nielsen, president of Toyota Texas. "It makes me incredibly proud of our team members and 21 on-site suppliers every time I see one of our trucks on the road knowing that safety and quality are built into every one of them."1
As for that one-millionth vehicle, it was none other than a 2014 Toyota Tundra 1794 Edition. And if you'd like to join in on the celebration, feel free to take one of these pickups for a test drive at our dealership here in Springfield, OR. Can't let Texas have all the fun now, can we?
