When two of the models on your new and used car lineup get named the 'Most American Cars' on the market, there's a lot of responsibility that comes with the honor. Not only is there the pressure to keep on raising the bar, but in an event like this, you gotta give back to the folks who helped you get there. Lucky for us here at Lithia Toyota of Springfield, our favorite automaker knows the drill.
After another successful six months of sales, the brass at Toyota announced that they would be making an investment of $30 million into their Princeton, IN auto plant. It's Toyota's 10th production increase in the last 20 months and will create an additional 200 jobs for the plant that already employs 4,500 team members. The annual production capacity for the plant is also being bumped from 300,000 units to 350,000 later this year to make way for even more 2013 Toyota Highlander models.
Needless to say, the folks in Princeton are pretty excited about the news.
"This capacity increase is to meet growing demand for the Highlander and is a part of our strategy to build vehicles where we sell them," says Norm Bafunno, president of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana, Inc. "We appreciate our loyal customers who value the quality products our team members build in Princeton, and we're excited to build even more Highlanders."1
So if you'd like to take one of our signature SUVs for a spin, your test drive awaits you at our dealership here in Springfield, OR. After all, what's not to love about an automaker that gives back?
